Scholarship

The Pinellas Seminole Club is rededicated to assist Florida State University academics through scholarship contributions. Our goal is to re-establish an annual local general scholarship, while continuing support of scholarships that benefit Pinellas County students at FSU. A Pinellas Seminole Club contribution in 2010 helped to endow the Pamela Thompson scholarship in the FSU College of Nursing.

Pamela Thompson moved from California to Largo at age 4, joining an FSU family. She attended Mildred Helms Elementary and Largo Middle School before moving back to California as a teenager. Her ambition of a career in healthcare, caring for infants and children never came to pass. The victim of a violent crime; her life was taken at 19.

A scholarship in her name was established at the FSU College of Nursing, to assist local FSU nursing students pursuing pediatric or neonatal nursing. The scholarship is not fully funded, but has reached endowment level, so that disbursements can be made in the form of partial scholarships. The first recipient is Erin Gray of Palm Harbor, an outstanding representative of Florida State University. Read Erin's story, courtesy of the FSU foundation here: "One Woman's Dream Lives On Through Another".

If you would like to make a direct gift to the Pamela Thompson Scholarship, you can do so through the Pinellas Seminole Club or contact Jonathan Dawson at the College of Nursing: jdawson@foundation.fsu.edu 850.644.4606
